Background

The 8th International Table Grape Symposium will be held in Italy, Apulia and Sicily, from 1st to 7th October, 2017: Italy is the main European table grape producer, and one of the bigger producer and exporter in the world, Apulia and Sicily account for the 70% and 25% of the national production.

Objectives

The Symposium is a leading international event for the table grape industry, presenting the latest results of research and experimentation into table grape production to a scientific and technical audience from around the world.

Topics

The main topics will concern:

  • Production, Economics and Marketing
  • Environment, Biology and Physiology
  • Standard and Advanced Growing Techniques
  • Postharvest Technologies and Processing
  • Genetic Resources & Propagation Techniques
  • Pest and Disease Control.

Language

The official language will be English, with Italian translation.

Apulia technical tours: leader farms for table grape production (covered vineyards, trellis systems, varieties), packaging, postharvest and commercialization, plastic cover manufacturing. Attendants will choice one tour (province) after the publication of the detailed program.

Technical tours in Sicily will concern special growing techniques (on-vine grape bagging, soilless cultivation, topworked vineyards, biodynamic cultivation, typologies of plastic covering).
